Frequently Asked Questions
1
I’ve always handled problems on my own. Why start with a therapist now?
Speaking with a trained mental health professional provides you with new perspectives, ideas, and strategies that you might not otherwise encounter. When meeting with a therapist, you will be met with an unbiased and non-judgmental listener. Furthermore, you have the benefit of confidentiality when speaking with a therapist. This means you're able to share your thoughts and feelings freely without concern of gossip.

What insurance do you accept?
At this time, I am an in-network therapist with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Choice Options PPO in Illinois. If you have another insurance provider, I will gladly provide you with documentation for out-of-network benefits.

Does what I say in therapy stay private?
All clients have a right to confidentiality. This is crucial in order to feel comfortable sharing personal information. However, it is important to note the few exceptions to confidentiality. I am required to report concerns related to:

-
Child abuse and/or neglect
-
Elder abuse and/or neglect
-
Suicidal or homicidal intent

We will discuss these limitations during our first session, so I can answer any questions you might have.

How often will we have sessions?
The frequency of sessions is based on client need. Some clients find that it's helpful to meet weekly while others prefer every other week or monthly. It is suggested that sessions occur weekly for about a month to ensure that we are able to build rapport, set goals, and quickly begin making progress. Feel free to discuss your therapy needs with me to ensure session frequency meets your goals and needs.
